After life - Ricky Gervais.
I know he isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but this was brilliant. Had me in tears, fucking wuss!

Thought provoking.

I do know what you mean- and the pat on the shoulder when he walks off. Maybe it was just a little bit low key for me to be satisfied and I was expecting a bit more!

Still, minor quibble aside, bloody good show.

Last comment before I become terminally homosexual :)

I think you missed the importance of the 'I'm sorry, mate, I know you're grieving, too', at her graveside.

Ha!

I think it's just a weird contrast to how he does something much more important and poignant for lots of other people in the end, but not really that much for the person who has borne the vast majority of his cuntiness throughout the whole thing. I thought it was the only thing that was pretty much left unresolved when everything else was wrapped up quite nicely.

The hospital scene was the golden opportunity in the writing for that to happen and for him to make amends when faced with someone else close to him dying too young but I found it bizarre that he just insulted him even more. It's quite weird to have a main character/protagonist who you feel really empathetic for most of the time but actually just bullies someone else and acts the total cunt toward them non stop for no real reason.

Just for a series that did a lot of things really well, my only personal criticism of it was that.

Matt was his brother-in-law and good mate who just wanted the best for his dead sister's husband. After Tony reached some sort of closure about his missus and stopped being quite such a dick, all that was required from him was a half-arsed apology and a manly back thump.

Have you caught gay,mate?

Very good with some brilliant bits. Cactus through the car window.

David Earl as mentioned. Joe Wilkinson.

The only thing that annoyed me was there's never any real, proper resolution, apology or making it right with the brother in law who Tony is just a cunt to literally all the time apart from giving him the cheque and a half arsed sorry. It did annoy me how the guy is always trying to help him but just constantly taking shit. Even in the hospital. I thought there might be a bigger thing made of it.

Some of the observations in this are painfully on the money - the bit where he’s talking to his wife alone on the bench at the cemetery about how he now realised he was Ill but he didn’t at the time as everything felt right and logical is the most perfect summary of mental health issues I’ve ever heard

For all his loud mouth insults and abusive comedy, Gervais is a very nuanced and intelligent writer capable of the most brilliant observations

It’s also still very funny

Bilic - That's how I saw it. Not sure about all this comparing series, all pretty much the same to me. I also saw him live at Hammersmith one time, thought he was alright.

Thought it was pretty much more of the same. Easy enough watching but a distant third to The Office and Extras. I did not care for Derek.

I saw him do stand up in November in Dublin - was very good, I was crying with laughter a couple of times

David Earl is very funny and he never seems to laugh it's always Gervais.

I had commented that having watched four of the six in series 3 I felt it was just a bit of a same old same old, but i watched the final two last night and it did improve and, in fact, I think they made it half decent overall. Well worth a watch but not as good as previous two series.

Watched the last two episodes last night found it very emotional but then again I am a bit of a wuss.

Been streamed 100 million times, enjoyed the first two series, not so much the third, it is exported to about 30 countries goodness knows what people in Japan, Romania etc can make of this with sub-titles

I don't know how people can stomach this washed up sweating wanker. A lot of what he says would be funny if it was delivered by someone else but this bloke is so punchable it doesn't work for me. Can't stand the cunt.

First three episodes felt like a vehicle to shock and was pretty much more of the same as series 1&2 but without the charm. Last three turned it around for me.

Re: After life - Ricky Gervais.
The c-bomb can be very funny. But use the word too much and it's not a bomb any more, just oafish.

For instance, it's entirely unnecessary in the quote from Yesmalady below, because it's still wonderfully funny and coarse without it. Gervais could easily have substituted 'git' or 'tosser' and kept a 'cunt' up his sleeve

Re: After life - Ricky Gervais.
Agree about the overuse of swearing in this series but loved it when Tony threw his dads ashes over the pub landlord
" a bit went in my mouth "

" good , I hope it was his cock you stupid c***"

After life is the Kings new clothes in TV, people look for some deep and mystic meaning but in reality is it like an Adele album
Full of self pity and misery

Saw some one say (in text) that Adele must of been gutted when her child was born healthy as if she had issues she could of got another album (not my words)

An ambiguous ending, which I quite liked.
Although as others have mentioned nowhere near as good as the first two series.
